Christine Brooker
Elder
I was born in Waltham Abbey and lived in the town until the age of 28.
My parents attended the Baptist Church in Waltham Abbey and my father ran a Gospel Hall at Upshire, so my childhood memories are centred around those two churches.
I gave my life to Jesus when I was 9 years old, and was baptised by immersion at the age 17 years.
I moved to Harlow after my father died in 1978 and lived there for 28 years, attending Fore Street Baptist Church and later Kingsmoor Community Church.
Friends from Harlow invited me to move with them in 2007 to a little village in Northwest Wales, so I spent almost 7 years there amongst absolutely amazing scenery. I returned to Waltham Abbey in 2014 and after a brief time in the Church of England, I have now settled back into the Baptist Church here.
I run two Prayer Meetings a month in the church, one for our Missionaries and one for Community needs in this town. Prayer is my passion, as I believe so much can be achieved when we pray about stuff and give it to God. I also help to run a weekly get-together called Allsorts, where all sorts of people meet together to do all sorts of things!
I love photography, walking, exploring the UK , writing and encouraging people, listening and praying with others.
My favourite verse is Psalm 46 verses 1-God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
